Hey everybody. Just to make sure you all know that I haven't forgotten about you guys I decided to share a little something I have been working on. Please give feedback, but I think this could be an extremely fun and occasionally challenging series of games.
I was inspired when I saw a show on tv, and decided to create a series of games designed to honor and spread some knowledge of famous battles throughout history. Some of these games will require some compliance on the part of the players (for instance if the event is for a battle that happened prior to radio then there are no comms). But these games will be designed to simulate the terrain, tactics, and situations that happened in these famous battles.
To give an example. I am planning a game designed after the battle of Marathon.
AOA will play the Athenians, with TAC and others playing as the Persians. We will play at Omega and use the far side of the field that borders the river (the wide open beach area), you cannot leave the beach area. Respawns will be at opposite ends of the beach, with three lines spaced evenly between the two team spawns. The teams will start at the center line, and will be tasked with pushing the other team towards the line nearest their base. The Persian team is also trying to get runners past the Athenians, if they get three or more past the Athenian lines then the Athenians lose. If the Athenians push the Persians to their line and hold for 10 minutes, then AOA can send a runner out who will run around the entirety of Omega's trails (simulating the original marathon runner going back to Athens), and end up at the Persian spawn. If the runner gets to the Persian spawn and the Athenians still have the Persians pushed up to their line then the Athenians win.
So what does everyone think? I am currently planning stuff like this for Gettysburg, Alesia, Belleau Wood, Chosin Reservoir, Fallujah, and (if I can get the right field) Operation Entebbe
