Hi guys i was looking to get a new gun because the gun I currently had just isn't working for me. Right now i have a G&G r8l and honestly its to long, and doesn't have the range I'm wanting. I was thinking of upgrading to an ICS l85/l86 model. I like the looks and the adjustable F.P.S. on the gun. Another gun i am considering would be the saw variant in the community needed a saw gun i could fill that role. But for the l85 i was looking at either the g&g l85 afv or the l85 carbine. l85afv -http://www.airsoftstation.com/g-g-top-tech-l85-afv-aeg-airsoft-rifle.html l85 carbine-http://www.airsoftstation.com/g-g-top-tech-l85-a1-aeg-airsoft-rifle.html or for ics the l85-http://www.airsoftstation.com/ics-87-l85-carbine-airsoft-rifle-aeg.html or finally the l86 saw- www.airsoftstation.com/ics-86-l86a2-lsw-aeg.htmlWhat do you guys think would be the best for a semi new player. Also ill probably be getting A-Tac for Christmas so which type should i get?

Hello, and welcome to the community. As far as l85s as you have likely noticed there are not a ton of options in manufacturers. Lucky for you ICS happens to be considered a good company with professional quality internals and parts. I would recommend ICS in this case. As far as whether or not you should get the SAW it is important to consider that to get the real benefit out of a SAW you need to have a high clip size, so you would be better served buying a drum mag if you chose to buy the SAW version. Also remember the extra length and weight can be a little tricky to deal with when running through brush.

Ok I think I'm going to with the carbine or the afv if ICS carries it. Do you know if I need any upgrades out of the boxes for ICS guns? I hear there solid guns but I have never actually seem or used one before.

ICS guns as I know are among the best you can get standard. If you need upgrades their split gearbox designs allow for incredibly easy upgrading. The thing with G&G is that the majority of their guns require you to upgrade the spring if you want to compete (in terms of range and BB weight). If there is something that you might have to upgrade I would keep an eye on the hop up units and the piston heads, but I doubt you would have any problems for awhile if ever.

Oh leave him alone you KWA fanatics! Yeah Halfpint, if you want an L85, get an L85. ICS and Ares are both excellent. You probably want the ICS though simply because both distributors have excellent product, but ICS tends to be a little less expensive than Ares.

I might get a kwa sr10 off Craigslist for 150. Comes with 4 hi-caps and no battery.
